About the working group

The role of data in the future of the global food supplychain is becoming increasingly important. The flow of information between each step enables improved increased efficiency. 

The working group was estaplished in 2018 and we invite participation from anyone who shares this vision, and understands the current constraints on data collection and exchange, and wants to contibute in discussions around solutions. Greater productivity brings reward to each value added provider in the supplychain and the goal of feeding the growing population.

Precision Agriculture

The opportunity to collect data from the field to allow optimization of harvesting and the sorting progress. For example larger, quality apples are to be harvested, suitable for export and the packhouse is reconfigured ready for the arriving apples. Using sorting data to inform growers of yields and quality for payment and future growing optimization.

Collecting data throughout the packhouse from receipt to shipping. Facilitating data interworking to improve internal efficiency through performance optimisation, availability, quality. Optimizing yield, throughput, and up-time through machine data.
